The best description I ever heard of my artwork is that it is "eclectic in nature, and reflects my versatility and ability to render a subject in the medium I feel will best present the image I have in my mind's eye." (Penn State Instructor, 2001) My favorite medium is oils, which allows me to freely lather the support and express myself in brushstrokes in a loose, impressionistic style. Yet, I can be exacting in drawing with pastels, pen and ink, or etching prints. The amazing schizophrenia I enjoy in my painting ability often surprises my collectors when they view my work. One would think several artists have painted them instead of just one. I paint by inspiration only. I may look at hundreds of photos, go weeks without production, and suddenly I feel compelled to duplicate my impressions in series of paintings, until I grow tired and have used up all my inspiration. Then, I will teach, or go on photo trips, or visit galleries everywhere I travel, until my "muse" awakens again. I am never bored, because I always have a challenge ahead.
