The primary focus of my work is watercolor painting utilizing a pouring method. Only three colors are poured, a red, blue, and yellow, allowing them to mingle on dampened paper. The result can be a glowing, rosy effect, or a dark, brooding atmosphere, depending on the transparency or opacity of the pigments I use, and how the colors mix on the paper. I began painting in oils, but that proved difficult to take on family outings with a carload of children! I decided to try watercolors as a sketching medium, but fell in love with the way colors blended and created other colors. Watercolor is now my medium of choice, although I also work in oils, pastels, graphite and ink. Nature is at the forefront of my inspiration, whether
it is a landscape, floral, or wildlife. I am also inspired by children
playing unposed in their busy activities. Photographs I have taken, in my
locale or on trips, are the references used for my paintings.
